Announcing the 2021/22 Community-University Engagement Support (CUES) funding recipients
April 25, 2022
Community-University Engagement Support (CUES) provides funding for eligible community organizations in BC to build partnerships and pursue shared projects with UBC.
Each year, the university awards $500,000 to projects that directly support community partnerships, to help reduce financial barriers for organizations, as well as to support communities that are often underserved, marginalized, or excluded. CUES enables reciprocal relationships because the projects that receive funding are driven by community needs and priorities. At the same time, they enrich UBC research and education, support the non-profit sector, and help communities thrive through inclusive engagement across the province.
CUES provides funding in two project streams: the Explore stream helps establish new partnerships, and the Sustain stream helps fill resource gaps experienced by existing collaborators. To date, the fund has awarded $1.7 million to 81 different community groups — including 32 Indigenous communities and organizations — and university partners from 10 different faculties across Vancouver and the Okanagan.
