A message from Lesley Cormack, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal, UBC Okanagan

It has been over six weeks since the tragic death of Harmandeep Kaur shook our campus, and today the RCMP and the BC Prosecution Service have announced charges. This will undoubtedly and understandably bring with it strong emotions from her family and friends, as well as our campus community.

We stand together as a campus and offer our condolences and support to those struggling with this news. As we expressed to Harmandeep’s family the last time we spoke, we are all shattered by her passing and our collective hearts are with them. I hope we all can find the strength to seek out the many supports and services offered to students, faculty and staff at this challenging time.
