UBC Okanagan’s newest research clusters are striving for a greener future

Four teams were chosen for the Clusters of Research Excellence program 2022/23.

This year’s newly funded Clusters of Research Excellence showcase UBC Okanagan’s commitment to a greener future.

  • Battery Innovation
  • Living with Wildfire
  • Build Better
  • Solar Energy for Net Zero

Each cluster is funded for three years—an investment meant to help jumpstart collaborative research which can then attract further external funding opportunities.

Funded through the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation’s Eminence Program, Clusters of Research Excellence are interdisciplinary teams of researchers that focus on addressing complex societal problems beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries.

    Applications for 2024 Thrive Grants open until Oct. 7

    Grants worth $300 are available for faculty and staff in Vancouver and the Okanagan who wish to host events that promote mental health during November, which is Thrive month at UBC. During the annual, month-long mental health initiative the UBC community is encouraged to learn about, talk about, and explore ways to support our mental health.
