December 16, 2020

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Charania as Associate Vice-President, Human Resources (Strategic Advisory Partnerships and Support Services), effective January 25, 2021.

In this new role, Adam will lead the Employee and Labour Relations team, Advisory Services team and the Faculty Relations team. He will focus on leading and fostering university-wide HR partnerships and stakeholder relationships. He will also focus on providing continuously evolving HR professional standards, practices and services across the UBC HR community, to improve the consistency, productivity and efficiency of advisory support services.

Adam brings more than 20 years of broad senior HR leadership experience, in both the public and private sectors. During his career he has worked in several large and complex organizations such as Provincial Health Services Authority, Rocky Mountaineer, British Columbia Automobile Association, and the BC Provincial Government, at both the Ministry of Labour and the Public Sector Employers’ Council.

Given his breadth of experience, I am confident that Adam will be a great addition to the HR portfolio and UBC as a whole. Please join me in extending a warm welcome.
