I am pleased to announce the appointment of Marten Youssef as the inaugural Associate Vice-President, University Relations at UBC Okanagan, effective January 4, 2022.
In this role, Marten will provide oversight to UBC Okanagan’s marketing, internal communications, media relations, community engagement and ceremonial activities on campus and will continue to build on the strong ties between UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanagan.
In his most recent role, Marten served as Communications Director at Translink, where he oversaw communications with one of North America’s leading Transportation authorities, across different subsidiaries with 8,000 employees and 450,000 daily customers.
In his previous roles over the past 15 years, he worked as a journalist across Africa, Abu Dhabi and Canada covering human rights and justice issues, led the communications team for the United Nations Special Tribunal for Lebanon as the first international court prosecuting acts of terrorism, and championed community engagement and accountability at BC’s Independent Investigations Office.
