Leadership update — Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning
This message was sent to executive, deans and other senior academic leaders, academic heads, directors and managers, and senior professional leaders in Vancouver.
December 15, 2021
Dr. Pamela Ratner, Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning, will be stepping down from her role at the end of December 2021.
Since being appointed to her role in 2015, Dr. Ratner has made a significant impact within the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic and UBC as a whole.
As Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning, Dr. Ratner has led enrolment planning and management, stewardship of existing and new academic space and capital projects, and contributed to university budget planning. During her time in the Provost's office, she helped establish the Academic Capital Fund, which has made it possible for the university to move forward on much needed capital investments for academic facilities. She was also a key member of UBC's Budget Working Group for the last six years.
In addition to these key responsibilities, Dr. Ratner has been at the forefront of UBC's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in partnership with the Executive Director, Safety and Risk Services. It is an understatement to say that her dedication and commitment to UBC over the last two years have played a vital role in helping the university navigate the pandemic.
We are currently working with the President's Office to determine the process and timeline to fill the role of Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Faculty Planning. In the meantime, we will make an appointment on an interim basis, and will provide further updates in the new year.
Please join me in thanking Dr. Ratner for her academic leadership and collaborative spirit. We offer our best wishes for her next chapter.
Andrew Szeri
