Dr. Mark MacLachlan, Professor of Chemistry and Canada Research Chair in Supramolecular Materials, has served as Dean pro tem for the Faculty of Science since January 1, 2024. This extension is for the period January 1, 2025, until December 31, 2025, or the appointment of the new Dean.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lisa Sundstrom as Associate Vice-President, Research & Innovation, effective July 1, 2025.
UBC’s 2025 Wall Fellowships and Wall Research Awards competitions have launched, focusing on research and scholarly activity in identified areas relating to sustainability in British Columbia. This suite of awards represents one of the largest internal award programs at any university in North America. It supports the research and scholarly activities of tenured and tenure-track faculty members at all stages of their career, as well as those of master’s and doctoral students.
The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to announce the re-appointment of Dr. Henry Yu to serve as Principal of St. John’s College (SJC) for a five-year term effective January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2029. This appointment follows a review of Dr. Yu’s performance as Principal to-date, and the larger SJC ecosystem.
