A message from Dale Mullings, Associate Vice-President, Students, UBC Okanagan
Dear colleagues,
Since arriving at UBC in September 2020, I have connected with students, staff, and faculty across Okanagan and Vancouver campuses to learn about the perceived strengths of student services at UBCO and opportunities to support faculty and staff in meeting the changing needs of our students. Strengthening our supports for international students, students who have an interest in internationalizing their degrees, as well as creating more capacity for sharing and celebrating the diversity of cultures within our community has come up time and time again. Local and Global Engagement is identified as a key priority in the UBC Strategic Plan, Shaping UBC’s Next Century, and opportunities to develop global and intercultural competencies are identified as increasingly essential to the educational journey of our students.
In light of this, I am pleased to announce the following structural change within the Office of the Associate Vice President, Students at UBC’s Okanagan campus. Effective February 1, 2021, International Programs & Services (IPS) and Go Global have merged into one unit, now reporting to the AVP, Students.
