A message from Ananya Mukherjee Reed, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Okanagan.
Dear colleagues,
I am writing today to invite you to join together with inspiring speakers from around the world for a critical discussion on global challenges and their impact on the economic development futures of places around the world.
As we tackle some of the greatest challenges of our time—from the climate change crisis to the COVID-19 pandemic and its accompanying health and economic insecurities, to issues of equity, diversity and inclusion across many forums—we also have a unique opportunity to come together virtually with global partners to deepen our understanding and exploration of these challenges and their impact.
On March 4 at 8:30 a.m. PST, UBC Okanagan will co-host a collaborative webinar with Orkestra - Basque Institute of Competitiveness, where speakers from North America, Africa, Europe and South America will address a variety of perspectives on people’s relation to the land and each other, the transformation of traditional industry and the significance of inclusion and diversity to economic development and the potential for cluster policies that enable inclusion.
