A message from Lesley Cormack, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal, UBC Okanagan
Dear colleagues,
As we approach the transition back to campus next week, I want to thank everyone at UBC Okanagan for your continued efforts to ensure a safe and welcoming campus environment. This has required vigilance from everyone, including an ongoing awareness of the need to treat one another with care, kindness and respect.
Facilitating the transition back to in-person learning has also taken a great deal of hard work. At UBC Okanagan this work has been overseen by the Resumption Planning & Coordination Committee (RPCC), which has been in place since mid-2020 to manage the safe, phased resumption of on-campus activities. The RPCC is chaired jointly by Michael Burgess, Associate Provost, Strategy, and Shelley Kayfish, Director, Campus Operations and Risk Management, and its members represent a wide cross-section of campus. They are tasked with aligning campus resumption activities with guidance from the Provincial Health Officer.
In anticipation of the return of most of our campus community on February 7, the RPCC is overseeing several measures intended to make in-person learning and working as safe as is practicable.
