From the Provost's desk
January 25, 2022
A message from Ananya Mukherjee Reed, Provost and Vice-President, Academic, UBC Okanagan
Dear colleagues,
I write to you today with the final edition of “From the Provost’s Desk.” We began this initiative in 2019 as a way to share and celebrate the academic achievements of our campus community and to inform you of opportunities and ongoing discussions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it also served as a means of connection—in a time when perhaps we needed it the most. I appreciate the many conversations that followed and your ongoing support, thoughtful engagement and feedback. I want to especially thank Raina, Kristen and Linda in my office who put this together.
Looking back on my time at UBC Okanagan, I am incredibly proud of the many initiatives we have undertaken together through the collective effort of our students, faculty and staff. While it is hard to concisely highlight but a few initiatives, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on some key milestones and achievements. In January 2019, a future view and path forward for our campus—Outlook 2040—was launched. It is incredible to see the progress that has been made on the vision and ambitions in this plan, in just three short years, as reflected in many of the initiatives shared below.
