New ‘Staff in Focus’ series launched on UBC Today

We are pleased to announce the launch of ‘Staff in focus’ – a new series highlighting our staff members and their work at the university.    

Over the years, you have told us that you would like to learn more about your colleagues at UBC. We currently feature teaching faculty through ‘Teaching in focus’ and researchers through ‘Research in focus’ – and now, 'Staff in focus' is a dedicated platform to showcase the diverse work of our staff community.  

Whether you're new to UBC or have been here for a while, ‘Staff in focus’ is an opportunity to share who you are, what you do at UBC, and what insights or hidden talents you’d like to share with the faculty and staff community. 

If you are a faculty member, we welcome you to submit a Research in focus or Teaching in focus profile.

    Participate in Orange Shirt Day on Sept. 30

    Every year on Sept. 30, people across Canada wear orange and participate in Orange Shirt Day events to recognize and raise awareness about the history and consequences of the residential school system in Canada.     Applications for 2024 Thrive Grants open until Oct. 7

    Grants worth $300 are available for faculty and staff in Vancouver and the Okanagan who wish to host events that promote mental health during November, which is Thrive month at UBC. During the annual, month-long mental health initiative the UBC community is encouraged to learn about, talk about, and explore ways to support our mental health.
