Describe what you do at UBC in 10 words or less :
Manager of IPS, immigration policy, student support and crisis management.
What is the best thing about your work/role at UBC?
The best thing about my role is that no two days are the same. With daily changes such as an announcement of a government policy shift, responding to global crises to implementing programming to support students, I have the honour of putting into action innovation, intentionality, and collaborative work with colleagues across both campuses.
What trait do you most admire in others?
Humility, including the ability to know what you don’t know and allowing others to step in and showcase their expertise. Recognizing the limitations of your knowledge and value the expertise of others is a valuable trait.
What do you do regularly to invest in your mental and/or physical health?
Getting outside for a run or hike is my definite go-to and a two-for-one deal for physical and mental health. Whether it’s running solo on the trails, running with colleagues or hiking up Spion Kop in Lake Country with my son, being able to process my thoughts while getting outdoors helps me clear my mind.
