A message from Lesley Cormack, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal, UBC Okanagan
Dear colleagues,
As the crisis in Ukraine deepens, I thought it important to send out a statement of solidarity with the people of Ukraine and a message encouraging empathy for all who are impacted by this terrible conflict.
As President Ono recently expressed, the university is deeply concerned about the situation in Ukraine and its impact on our students, faculty and staff. We encourage anyone requiring support—be it the services of our Global Engagement Office, Health and Wellness, the Employee & Family Assistance Program, or other services—to reach out without hesitation.
I stand with the people of Ukraine as they defend themselves against unprovoked violence and aggression from Russia. I had the privilege of visiting Ukraine in the fall of 2019 and have many friends and colleagues with deep connections there. My thoughts are with them at this dangerous time and amid the escalating humanitarian crisis in Eastern Europe.
