New funding available to support Indigenous Strategic Plan implementation

This time last year, we launched the UBC Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP). As you may recall, this plan sets out a series of goals and actions the university will take to implement the rights of Indigenous Peoples. You can view a copy of the plan at the new ISP website: https://isp.ubc.ca.
One year later, we are now pleased to announce the creation of a new Indigenous Strategic Initiatives (ISI) Fund to support meaningful change and advance the goals and actions outlined in the ISP. Students, faculty and staff in Vancouver and the Okanagan are invited to apply.
Funding is allocated across three streams with amounts ranging from $30K for new initiatives that have impact at the faculty or unit level, to $250K for multi-year projects that have the potential for transformative impact at the institutional level. Up to $4 million in support is now available.
The creation of the Fund was Indigenous-led with collaboration across both campuses, coordinated by the Office of Indigenous Strategic Initiatives (OISI). The process was shaped by the ISP Guiding Network, an innovative and Indigenous human rights-based structure for guiding implementation of the plan.

Note that for staff and faculty-led applications, completing the ISP Self-Assessment Tool is a prerequisite. The Tool and upcoming workshops can be found at:isp.ubc.ca/implementation/implementation-tools-resources/.
Implementing the ISP is the responsibility of everyone at UBC. Thank you in advance for your interest and participation in this important work.
