Two UBC faculty members receive Royal Society of Canada awards

Two UBC faculty members are among the recipients of the Royal Society of Canada's 2022 Awards. RSC Awards celebrate outstanding contributions from across disciplines and across generations.

Dr. Kimberley Brownlee (Philosophy, UBCV) – Kitty Newman Memorial Award (For outstanding contributions from an emerging scholar in the field of philosophy)

Dr. Rashid Sumaila (Institute of Oceans and Fisheries/School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, UBCV) – Miroslaw Romanowski Medal (For scientific work relating to environmental problems)

    Grants worth $300 are available for faculty and staff in Vancouver and the Okanagan who wish to host events that promote mental health during November, which is Thrive month at UBC. During the annual, month-long mental health initiative the UBC community is encouraged to learn about, talk about, and explore ways to support our mental health.
