2022 President’s awards for staff: Call for nominations
A message from Santa J. Ono, President and Vice-Chancellor Each year through the President’s staff awards, we recognize and celebrate staff members who demonstrate outstanding achievement and excellence within the UBC community, and who enable us to shape the future of research, teaching, and work. Once again, I invite you to nominate your colleagues for the 2022 awards. Nominations may be submitted by faculty, staff, and students. The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 8 at 4pm.

Learn about the updated Nsyilxcn street signs at UBC Okanagan
Nsyilxcn translations of the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus streets were first added to the existing campus street signs in March of 2010. The design of the translations closely resembled the conventional UBC street signs with classic white lettering on a blue background.

Read the results of the Workplace Experiences Survey
The university-wide results from the 2021 Workplace Experiences Survey results are now available online, accessible via CWL. This survey, conducted late last year, is the primary opportunity for all faculty and staff to share feedback on their experiences of working at UBC. The results offer insights into the progress on efforts to make UBC a more diverse, inclusive, safe and vibrant workplace.

Brad Wuetherick
Brad Wuetherick is the Associate Provost, Academic Programs, Teaching and Learning at UBC Okanagan. In this role, he focuses on creating an inclusive, anti-racist teaching and learning environment and educational pathways for student success. Taking a non-traditional path into academic leadership, Brad began his career as an elected student leader, centering students as partners to imagine the future of teaching and learning. He is an internationally-recognized scholar of teaching and learning in higher education, and is a fellow with the US-based Gardner Institute for Excellence in Undergraduate Education. For the past 20 years, Brad has served in a variety of leadership roles in teaching and learning, undergraduate student affairs, continuing education, and undergraduate research. Of Métis and European ancestry, Brad brings a unique perspective to UBC’s leadership team.

UBC Accessibility Shuttle resumes services on the Vancouver campus
The UBC Accessibility Shuttle is a free, shared ride service for people with conditions that impact their mobility. Run by the UBC Centre for Accessibility in collaboration with Campus and Community Planning, it travels along a designated route and makes stops within the central pedestrian areas of campus. The shuttle has a limited-storage trunk which can transport mobility aids.
