Indigenous stories hold clues to hydrological and geographical features, providing insights into the science of the world around us. Dr. Shandin Pete, assistant professor of teaching in UBC’s department of earth, ocean and atmospheric sciences, investigated a story that may have helped his Seliš ancestors judge when to safely cross rivers along the buffalo trail. Submit an application to the Healthy Workplace Initiatives Program by April 22
The Healthy Workplace Initiatives Fund Program is an annual fund available to UBC departments and units to support grassroots activities that promote wellbeing in the workplace. The program provides start-up funds and support for health-related, sustainable initiatives. You can apply for funding for programs that include yoga or fitness classes, building a community garden or investing in mental health training in your workplace. The deadline to apply for funding is 4pm on April 22.

Apply for a UBC Coaching Internship by Apr. 15
Are you seeking certification as a professional coach and want to apply your new coaching skills and knowledge to working with fellow UBC staff and faculty? Through the Coaching Internship program, you will gain valuable experience coaching faculty and staff in addition to professional development, mentorship and $1,500 towards the tuition cost of the accredited coach training program of your choice. Applications are due Friday, April 15.
