Rella Ng appointed as new Associate Vice-President, Enrolment Services and Registrar
I am pleased to announce that Rella Ng is joining UBC in November as the new Associate Vice-President, Enrolment Services and Registrar. Ms. Ng is currently the Registrar at Douglas College. Prior to that, she served as Associate Registrar, Information, Records & Registration Services at Simon Fraser University. She also previously held several leadership roles within Enrolment Services at UBC.

Multiple Indigenous-focused initiatives receive UBC funding to help advance rights of Indigenous peoples
A diverse range of Indigenous-focused projects will receive a significant funding boost this month to help transform innovative and impactful ideas into reality. Through the Indigenous Strategic Initiatives Fund (ISI Fund), UBC has committed a total of $4 million this academic year to helping advance the rights of Indigenous peoples as well as the crucial journey towards meaningful reconciliation.

Mapping the Milky Way
Nestled in a remote valley just an hour outside of Kelowna, amongst ridges and plateaus where cattle graze, Dr. Alex Hill, an assistant professor in the Irving K. Barber Faculty of Science, and his students are watching the stars. But they’re not star-gazing for the fun of it; rather, the team is using a state-of-the-art telescope at Canada’s largest radio observatory—the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory—to understand the origins of our universe.

Statement on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
A message from Santa J. Ono, President and Vice-Chancellor; Lesley Cormack, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal, UBC Okanagan Today we join the global community in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Flags on our campuses will be lowered to half-staff in recognition of her decades-long service as Queen of Canada and Head of State.
